Tooth Extraction Tactics 101

A tooth extraction is a procedure that requires the removal of a tooth from your mouth. In many cases, the tooth may be too badly damaged or severely decayed to the point it can no longer be saved and thus, could turn into a detriment for your oral health. If you are in need of a tooth extraction or have recently undergone the procedure, the more effort you put into your recovery program, the faster and more successful it can be.

Always evoke your dentist’s advice and instructions by our team at Time Square Dental Group. This includes following a diet, ideal usage of any doctor’s prescriptions and medications, and general routine habits. Get plenty sleep and rest, and don’t do any strenuous types of exercise. The more fatigue and exhaustion you put on your mind and body, the fewer resources your body can use to dedicate to your oral health recovery time.

Swelling may occur in the area around the removal area after the tooth has been removed. If excessive swelling begins to arise, use an ice pack on the affected location.

Do not eat solid food before the anesthetic has worn off, as it could present a choking hazard. If you smoke, quit immediately, or at the very least, refrain from smoking for the 48-hour period both before and after surgery.

If any irregularities arise during your recovery, consult your dentist immediately by calling us at (832) 426.4433 or visiting our office in Pasadena, Texas. For more information, or to book an appointment to come see Dr. Razan, call us soon. We look forward to helping you get well with a smile!
